good morning and Welcome to our monthly McKinley Park Press newscast coming to you live from PSO 27 during the last few days of February we are this year's executive board here to represent is that you I'm Harley D Chico your school president I'm Adam fim it's called vice president I meant to see your score for secretary our monthly broadcast is here to keep you in the loop about all the exciting initiatives we're working on student ambassadors with Miss Andre and Miss Baltimore we'll also update you on the latest please we're working to improve and support our community we had a jam-packed February along with 1 week off for Mid Winter recess so let's jump right into the recap in January we kicked off the we kicked off the year with our Make A Wish Foundation fundraiser and celebrated blue day on January 31st as a school Community we wore blue and encouraged everyone to visit the make a found it and make a wish page to help to help make wishes come true we raised 689 in February we made some great things happen at the start of our months at the start of the month we wrote 12 Valentine's Day cards for seniors spreading love and kindness on February 2nd the legendary Punk Satani Phil made his annual appearance according to tradition it fails to the shadow waiting for 6 more weeks of winter but if he an early spring is on the way so what did Phil predict this year well it turns out he saw his shadow which means we're expecting 6 more weeks of winter on February 5th we celebrated World read aloud day and after day where students and staff just as their favorite storybook characters and shared a read aloud featuring that character additionally this was 27 hosted lights out Day by our schoolwide action on climate action day focusing on conservation a big thank you to Mrs Guatemala and the Green Team for the efforts February 7th was family Friday at ps127 where families join their children in the classroom and created Valentine's Day crafts together on February 9th the Super Bowl took place and the Philly and the Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs with the final score of 40 to 22 what a thrilling game to more exciting news 127 is ba basketball team that helps 1 of the first games game against ps229 the score with 34 to 3 congratulation the cheerleaders new year before his Club worked hard to prepare for their amazing cultural performance showcase the incredible childhood students the entire school was able to view the performance on Monday February 10th either through the live stream or by attending the live performance and auditorial additionally families and ticket holders were invited to special after school performance on February 11th until it was truly a wonderful celebration of culture creativity and the many towns of our school community we continue to spread kindness like confetti during kindness months from February 10th to 14th ps127 participated in respect for all week this annual event occurs Citywide to continue efforts the faster respect and prevent bullying in schools as part of the event and our cause of months we hosted a fundraiser by selling bookmarks and pencils for $1 each during lunch periods on temporary 12th raising $1 in support of Paces National bowling prevention center thank you all for for your contributions each day of respect for all week was represented by a different color and we asked everyone to wear these colors to promote respect on Monday Fe February 10th we wore purple for kindness on Tuesday February 11th we wore orange for anti-bullying on Wednesday February 12th we wore yellow for diversity and lastly on Thursday February 13th we were glue for respect and acceptance on Friday February 14th we will read for Valentine's Day and took part in National No 1 eats alone day during this Nationwide event we came together during lunchtime to connect with our peers and help combat social social isolation it was a great way to spread kindness and sure no 1 had to eat alone additionally her Valentine's Day the student ambassadors have the opportunity to interview many students throughout the day and ask them why they love her school 1 asked many share the reasons such as I love ps127 because highlighting the things that make her school unique and special to them this was such a rewarding experience because it's really highlighted what makes your school so unique and why we love it my favorite 24 we celebrate the 100 day of school students and staff work and decorated items with 100 pieces to celebrate this excellent day the creativity was truly inspiring Additionally the students and staff members who have been in attendance for 100 days of school were recognized and awarded let's continue to keep our attendance up every day because each day at school brings us closer to our goals and helps us grow stronger as a community keep up the great work and let's make these last month of school calendar to wrap up our February boss cast he has a fun fact do you know why we had a break during Mid Winter recess it's because we celebrated President's Day President's Day which occurs on the third Monday in February honors the past and present us honors the past and present US presidents and celebrates their significant contributions to our country and democracy this month updated the birth of our past presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln to celebrate Luna New Year we have Derek from fourth grade as 1 of the Lions used for the performance thank you for tuning in to our McKinley Park Press this month we
